Moreno, Rubín Lift Locomotive Past Sporting JAX, 2-0

EL PASO, TEXAS – July 25, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC grabbed all three points on Saturday night against Sporting JAX, with a 2-0 win.

Amando Moreno put El Paso on the board in the 15th minute, slotting home a rebound that came off the crossbar.

Sporting JAX earned a golden chance to equalize after Gabi Torres was whistled for a foul inside the box. But Jacksonville couldn’t pull level, as Abraham Romero came up with a spectacular save to preserve the Locos’ lead.

The dagger came in the 83rd minute for Jacksonville, when Eric Calvillo slipped a perfectly weighted pass through to Rubio Rubín, sending him in one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Rubín calmly made a move past the keeper before slotting the ball into the back of the net, sealing a 2-0 victory.

Locomotive head to Irvine, Calif. on Saturday, August 1 to face Orange County SC. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. MT.

El Paso Locomotive FC’s last penalty save came on October 14, 2023, against Oakland Roots SC, when Benny Diaz denied Johnny Rodriguez from the spot in the 39th minute.

Locomotive Drop Tight Road Contest at FC Tulsa, 1-0

TULSA, OKLA. – July 18, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC came up short in a 1-0 road loss to FC Tulsa on Saturday night.

FC Tulsa found the breakthrough in first-half stoppage time when Lamar Batista got on the end of a set piece and tucked the ball past goalkeeper Abraham Romero for the match’s lone goal.

The second half featured chances at both ends as each side looked to add to the scoreline. Locomotive pushed forward in search of an equalizer, applying sustained pressure over the final 10 minutes, but Tulsa’s defense held firm to preserve the shutout and secure the 1-0 victory.

Locomotive returns to action on Saturday, July 25, at Southwest University Park when it hosts Sporting Jax. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

Quezada’s Second-Half Winner Lifts Locomotive Past Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV – July 4, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC left Las Vegas with all three points on Saturday night, defeating the Lights 2-1.

The teams traded chances early, but Locomotive struck first when Alex Méndez finished a one-touch chance in the 20th minute.

After conceding the opener, Las Vegas responded by putting pressure on El Paso’s defense before finding an equalizer in the final seconds of the first half.

Locomotive came out of the halftime break with two substitutions, and the adjustments made an immediate impact. Just seven minutes into the second half, Álvaro Quezada restored the Locos’ lead, slotting the ball inside the far post past the Las Vegas goalkeeper.

The Lights were unable to find another equalizer as El Paso’s defense stood firm the rest of the way, securing the 2-1 victory.

Locomotive returns to action on Saturday, July 11, when it hosts New Mexico United for USA Night and another match in the Prinx Tires USL Cup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. MT at Southwest University Park.

Locomotive Fall 1-0 to Monterey Bay in Stoppage Time

SEASIDE, CALIF. – June 20, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC fell to Monterey Bay FC on Saturday night, dropping to 4-5-4 in the USL Championship.

El Paso was on its heels in the opening minutes of the first half, relying on Sebastian Mora-Mora to make several big saves to keep Monterey Bay scoreless. Mora-Mora made three key stops before being subbed off in the 23rd minute due to injury.

Locomotive worked their way into the match as the first half progressed, creating a few chances in the closing minutes, but were unable to find the breakthrough as the teams headed into halftime tied 0-0.

El Paso continued to press out of the break, coming close to finding the opening goal twice, with Alex Mendez and Beto Avila seeing their chances denied by the post and crossbar.

Ilijah Paul found the stoppage-time winner for Monterey Bay in the 91st minute, heading the ball into the upper left corner of the goal to give his side the 1-0 victory.

Locomotive Pick Up Point Against Phoenix Rising FC in a 1-1 Draw at Home

EL PASO, TEXAS – June 13, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC hosted Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday Night, splitting the points after a 1-1 draw.

The opening half was a quiet one, with both teams finding chances but unable to put one in the back of the net, sending them into the halftime break locked at 0-0.

El Paso broke through early in the second half when Alex Mendez slotted one past the Phoenix goalkeeper nearside, after a perfect pass from Rubio Rubin.

Phoenix responded in the 70th minute as John Scearce headed home a pinpoint delivery into the box from Damian Rivera, who had entered the match just a minute earlier.

Locomotive Earn Point in 1-1 Road Draw Against Detroit City FC

HAMTRAMCK, MICH. – June 10, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC earned a 1-1 draw against Detroit City FC on Wednesday night, moving to 4-4-3 in USL Championship play this season.

Following a weather delay that pushed back kickoff, Detroit controlled possession for much of the opening 25 minutes. Locomotive gradually settled into the match and began to find more of the ball as the first half progressed.

El Paso broke through in spectacular fashion in the 42nd minute when Amando Moreno connected on a bicycle kick from inside the box to give Locomotive a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

A second weather delay postponed the start of the second half, forcing both teams to go through another warmup before play resumed. Detroit responded quickly after the restart, finding an equalizer just five minutes into the half to level the match at 1-1.

Detroit controlled much of the second-half action and came close to finding a winner, including a shot that struck the upper corner of the goal frame. However, Locomotive’s defense held firm as the two sides ultimately shared the points.

Locomotive return home on Saturday, June 13, to host Phoenix Rising FC at Southwest University Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MT.

Locomotive Falls 2-1 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the Third Round of the USL Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – June 7, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC fell on the road to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday night, dropping to 2-1-0 in the Prinx Tires USL Cup.

After an almost three-hour weather delay, the game was underway. The 25th minute saw the first big change in the match when El Paso’s Ricky Ruiz was shown a straight red card after committing a foul in his defensive half.

Juan Tejeda opened the scoring 13 minutes later, connecting on the end of a miss hit shot from Sam Williams to give the Switchbacks a 1-0 lead. Locomotive found a response in the final minute of stoppage time in the opening half, as Tony Alfaro headed the ball home on a perfect corner from Alex Méndez.

Colorado Springs regained the lead in the 70th minute as Jonas Fjeldberg slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

El Paso found themselves with multiple chances in the closing minutes but were unable to find a second goal to tie the match and keep things going.

Locomotive will be back in action on Wednesday as they head to Detroit to take on Detroit City FC. Kickoff is set for 5:30 PM MT.

Locomotive Reduced to Nine Men in 4-1 Defeat to Lexington SC

EL PASO, TEXAS – May 30, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC fell 4-1 to Lexington SC at home on Saturday night, moving to 4-4-2 in regular season play.

Lexington struck first after a strong save inside the box led to an own goal. As Sebastian Mora Mora attempted to clear the rebound, his pass deflected off Álvaro Quezada and into the net. Locomotive pushed to regain control of the match, but their momentum was halted in the 29th minute when Diego Abitia was shown a straight red card.

Marcus Epps doubled the lead for Lexington in the final minutes of the opening half, slotting one past Mora Mora from just a few feet out.

The second half would be much of the same for El Paso, including seeing their side reduced to nine men after a second straight red card, this time shown to Robert Coronado. Just two minutes later, Lexington made it 3-0 after Phillip Goodrum made a run through the middle of the box and sent the ball across the line.

Tarik Scott closed out the match for Lexington, scoring their fourth goal of the night less than two minutes after being subbed on. Locomotive got one back in the final minutes as Rubio Rubín cashed in on a penalty kick, making the Lexington goalkeeper dive the wrong way.

Locomotive will be on the road for its next match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on June 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Lexington’s first goal of the game came off a Locomotive own goal. This is the first time since October 26, 2024 at Pittsburg Riverhounds SC, that Locomotive scored on itself. The goal at Pittsburg was scored in the 19^th minute by Ricky Ruiz.

Locomotive Handle Business at Home with 2-0 Win Over AV Alta FC

EL PASO, TEXAS – May 27, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC improved to 2-0 in the Prinx Tires USL Cup on Wednesday night after their 2-0 win over AV Alta FC at Southwest University Park.

Despite having 10 shots in the opening half, Locomotive found themselves heading into the halftime break tied 0-0 with AV Alta. Alta’s goalkeeper had some help from the crossbar with both Rubio Rubín and Omar Mora each sending a shot ringing off the bar to keep the game level.

Noah Dollenmayer broke the deadlock for El Paso in the 72nd minute, getting on the end of a cross into the box from Memo Diaz, and heading one home. Less than 10 minutes later, Diego Abita doubled Locomotive’s lead, firing one into the back of the net after a pass left him one-on-one with AV Alta’s keeper.

Locomotive’s Unbeaten Road Run Ends in Oakland with 2-1 Loss

EL PASO, TEXAS – May 9, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC fell to Oakland Roots SC 2-1 on Saturday night for their first road loss of the regular season.

Rubio Rubín started the scoring early for El Paso, finding the back of the net just three minutes in for his seventh goal on the season. Locomotive road the momentum from the opening goal, with Álvaro Quezada creating a scoring chance that forced a save from the Roots goalkeeper.

The game shifted in the 18^th minute when El Paso’s Palermo Ortiz was shown a straight red card after making contact with an Oakland player. Locomotive went down a man and would be chasing the game for the remainder of the match.

A 10-man Locomotive team was able to hold Oakland scoreless until stoppage time of the opening half when Peter Wilson scored from inside the six-yard box to tie the match at 1-1. The second half was all Roots, who controlled 62% of the possession. Oakland’s constant pressure broke through El Paso’s defense in the 83^rd minute as Tucker Leplay sent a screamer into the upper left corner to give Oakland the lead.

The Roots were able to hold off Locomotive in the final seven minutes, plus stoppage time, to hand El Paso their first regular season road loss of the year.

After being named in the starting XI, Eric Calvillo tied Aaron Gomez for most regular season appearances at 129. He has the opportunity to surpass Gomez on Saturday, May 30^th when El Paso hosts Lexington SC.
With his goal in the third minute, Rubio Rubín is now tied for first in league standings with seven goals. Rubín’s goal is the second Locomotive goal this season that was scored under the 10-minute mark. Amando Moreno’s goal in the seventh minute against Las Vegas is the other.
Tonight’s 2-1 loss is El Paso’s first regular season road loss since their 5-2 loss on October 25, 2025 to San Antonio.
