Help and Hope for Every Cancer Journey
The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation is El Paso’s Cancer Help Center, providing help and hope to adults in El Paso County with any type of cancer-at any age and every stage. Our compassionate programs help ease financial and emotional burdens, encourage healthy living, and improve quality of life for patients and their families. The Patient Assistance Program provides financial assistance for cancer treatment expenses, helping reduce the financial burden. Our Four Seasons Program offers quality-of-life products for patients coping with the difficult side effects of cancer treatment. Cuídate, Men’s Health Awareness Initiative, is an outreach that raises awareness of men’s cancers and encourages healthier lifestyles. We are committed to prevention and wellness education through community outreach, yoga and nutrition classes, and monthly campaigns highlighting all the “colors” of cancer. The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation is dedicated to reducing the human and economic impact of cancer on the citizens of El Paso County. The nonprofit provides financial support for programs focused on advocacy, education, early detection, and essential services for cancer patients and their families.
As a two-time ovarian cancer survivor, I came to understand how important it is to share my journey and help others recognize the signs and symptoms of this disease. My experience taught me that early awareness and detection are among the most powerful tools we have in the fight against ovarian cancer.
With this mission in mind, we established the T.E.A.L. Fund in 2011. T.E.A.L. stands for Timely Education, Awareness, and Love, and teal is the ribbon color that represents ovarian cancer.
Since its inception, the T.E.A.L. Fund has provided financial support, education, and early-detection awareness for ovarian and other gynecologic cancers. Through the programs and services offered at the Cancer Help Center at the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation, the fund continues to empower women with knowledge, resources, and support throughout their cancer journey.
Gold Out El Paso is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in February 2020 to spread childhood cancer awareness and turn El Paso gold. Consists of Eileen Montelongo, Erik Montelongo, Monica R. Monarrez, and Charlie Monarrez.
Since 2020, GOEP has helped almost 40 families with funds for groceries, medicine, travel, lodging, bills, etc. GOEP works with other local organizations to celebrate holidays with the children and their families through donations and events.
Gold Out’s mission is to spread awareness and support the local children and their families as they fight this horrible disease.
Soon after the launch of El Paso Locomotive FC in 2019, Locomotive Youth Soccer was created to provide unrivaled opportunities for youth soccer players in the Borderplex region.
In addition to developing players on the field, Locomotive Youth Soccer is proud to be actively involved in the community. Through initiatives like Kickin’ Cancer with our clinic, players and families come together to support and uplift those facing pediatric cancer, showing that the power of sport extends far beyond the game itself.
It is our mission to not only provide excellence within our programs, but also to inspire children to develop and reach their full potential both on and off the soccer field.
