EL PASO, TEXAS – August 8, 2026 – El Paso Locomotive FC beat Oakland Roots SC on Saturday night, recording yet another clean sheet at home and securing a third consecutive home victory.
Locomotive applied attacking pressure from the opening whistle and capitalized in the ninth minute. Rubio Rubín connected with the end of a cross from Jimmy Farkarlun, slotting the ball inside the far post and past Oakland’s goalkeeper to give El Paso the early lead.
El Paso continued to create scoring chances in the second half, including an Alex Méndez free kick that forced Oakland’s goalkeeper to tip the ball over the crossbar, but couldn’t find a second goal. The Loco defense held strong when put under pressure by Oakland’s attack, securing the victory and another three points at home.
Locomotive will head on the road next Saturday, August 15, to face San Antonio FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MT

- Abraham Romero recorded a third straight clean sheet at home with tonight’s 1-0 win. He made three saves en route to the clean sheet, the most by a Locomotive goalkeeper since the 1-0 loss to Monterey Bay FC on June 20.
