El Paso Locomotive FC (12-12-7, 43 points, West-7) has not played a match since September 18 and come into a Wednesday night showdown against the number three team in the Western Conference. Colorado Springs Switchbacks (16-12-4, 52, points, West-3) are winless in their last four games but have clinched their position in the post season. El Paso are looking to close out their second to last home match of the regular season with a win and the three points, knowing that their fourth consecutive playoff appearance is in their hands.

The last time these two Western Conference heavy hitters met was on August 12 and Locomotive overcame a 3-0 halftime deficit to earn a hard-fought point on the road in a contest that ended 4-4. El Paso was able to get a much-needed period of rest and recovery over the past 17 days and look to capitalize on their gameplan. With three matches remaining in the regular season, Locomotive know that every point matter to keep them above the playoff line.
“We know what we have to do at this point in the season. We know we need points, and it was good for us to refresh our bodies a little bit especially towards the end.” Commented Forward Lucho Solignac. “We know that if we go into the games and do our thing, it’s in our hands.” Solignac enters this match leading El Paso in goals at 14 on the season.
“We can only focus on tomorrow and Colorado. There is a buzz at training, they look fantastic, and I am excited to see what they [Locomotive] bring tomorrow.” Head Coach John Hutchinson continued, “Colorado are a really good team and someone that we have had good competition against this season but the focus is on us and how do we go out and beat them. We focus on us, we focus on tomorrow; you can only control the day you are in.”
El Paso Locomotive have a quick turnaround after Wednesday night’s match when they host last season’s champion, Orange County SC, on Saturday night at Southwest University Park. El Paso then travels to Florida to close out the regular season against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, October 12.
