El Paso Locomotive FC (11-11-7, 40 points, West-6) comes off a thundering performance to grab their first road win in franchise history in Albuquerque against New Mexico United before heading into Wednesday’s home match against Rio Grande Valley Toros FC. The two Copa Tejas sides have met once this season, on June 29 in a match that saw the goalkeepers on both sides display heroism between the sticks. The match would end in a nil-nil draw and have the teams split the points.

El Paso has found form, with back-to-back wins against Phoenix Rising FC (3-1) and a historic road win against New Mexico United (2-1) and will look to continue their attacking prowess under the lights of Southwest University Park.
“The players are in good form. We had a really good shift in training a few weeks ago and we have just followed on from there. This week’s been really good as well. The boys are in good spirits and the key for us is playing at home in front of our fans. I love gameday and just watching the boys do their job and go out and play football,” commented Head Coach and Technical Director John Hutchinson. “It’s football, it’s a journey, you’re going to have ups and downs. The culture and mentality in the changeroom is so strong. It’s a pleasure being here and getting to work with such good pros.”
Locomotive have a chance to jump into 4 place in the Western Conference with a win against the traveling Toros. The Loco attack has been spearheaded by Lucho Solignac who has had back-to-back games with a brace and 13 goals on the season thus far. A crucial match kicks off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in El Paso before the team heads into two road matches to close out the September campaign.
The 12 place Toros enter Wednesday’s contest off a 2-1 loss to Phoenix Rising FC. The all-time record across the eight meetings between El Paso and RGV is 3-3-2 and Locomotive boast an impressive 3 wins, no losses and one tie at home against the visitors.
