El Paso Locomotive (13-2-7, 46 pts., MTN-1) closes out a two-game road stretch against Texas derby rival, Austin Bold FC on Wednesday, September 22. Kickoff from Bold Stadium in Austin, Texas is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
El Paso Locomotive and Austin Bold FC take on each other for the third time in the 2021 series, revisiting Bold Stadium for a Copa Tejas showdown that could influence the result of the supporter-run tournament. In the first two meetings, El Paso Locomotive came away with wins, finding a 1-0 victory at the start of the season with Midfielder Diego Luna’s first professional goal before claiming an emphatic 3-0 win with goals from Defender Andrew Fox, Midfielder Dylan Mares, and Forward Leandro Carrijo.
The two sides meet in what could be the Copa Tejas finale as El Paso Locomotive FC could claim the title with a win in Austin. The white-hot Locomotive side has cooled slightly in recent weeks but still stands firm with games in hand at the top of the Mountain Division, having only lost two games in the last 35 competitions. The dominated El Paso club will face a resurging Austin team that currently sits on its third straight win as it fights for positioning above the playoff line in the final stretch of the 2021 USL Championship regular season.
