EL PASO, Texas – (Saturday, June 12, 2021) – El Paso Locomotive Defender Mechack Jerome has been called up to the Haitian Men’s National Team roster ahead of its second-round World Cup Qualifying games against Canada on Saturday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 15.
Haiti finished first in first-round qualifying group stages, topping Group D with three wins in three games to punch its ticket to the second round. Haiti will now face Canada in a home-and-away series of games, with the winner on aggregate advancing to the third round.
Jerome, 31, has been called to play for the Grenadiers 77 times since his first senior team call-up in 2008, recording four goals in the process. His last international call-up came during the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup where Jerome, unfortunately, picked up a season-ending injury in the group stages after one appearance.
The Liancourt native signed with El Paso Locomotive FC ahead of its 2019 inaugural season, joining Head Coach Mark Lowry after three seasons with NPSL side, Jacksonville Armada. Since coming to El Paso, Jerome has become a cornerstone in the Locomotive defense, being cited by Coach Lowry as one of the best center-backs in the league. So far in the 2021 USL Championship season, Jerome has played in four games, all of which were starts, contributing to the current streak of four shutouts for Los Locos.
El Paso Locomotive (3-0-2) continues it’s so far 2021 unbeaten run when it welcomes Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to Southwest University Park on Saturday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. MT. Tickets to the game can be purchased online at https://www.eplocomotivefc.com or by calling 915.235.GOAL.
