El Paso Locomotive FC welcomes Real Monarchs to Southwest University Park for a weekend match on Saturday, September 19. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live locally on El Paso – Las Cruces CW and nationally on ESPN+. Following a big win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wednesday night, Locomotive started on the track to the trophy, clinching a playoff spot while moving to the top of Group C. Saeed Robinson recorded his first goal in a Locomotive jersey, putting one away in the 53rd against his former team while Omar Salgado rifled home a shot to secure the full three points. Combined with a Real Monarchs loss to Portland Timbers 2 the same night, Locomotive clinched its second straight appearance in the USL Championship postseason.
Locomotive now turns its attention towards the Monarchs as it looks to secure the right to host the USL Championship Western Conference Quarterfinals. Locomotive and Monarchs have met twice so far in 2020, in matches that have seen the Sun City team come away with the full three points on each occasion. The defending USL Championship title winners have been less than stellar having already been eliminated from the playoff race. Aiming to build on a club-record 4-game win streak, Locomotive welcomes the USL Championship title winners to SWUP to kick off the track to the trophy.
