EL PASO, TX – March 11, 2020 – El Paso Locomotive FC is set to kick off its 2020 regular-season home campaign on Saturday night when it hosts Portland Timbers 2 at Southwest University Park at 7:30 p.m. MT. The 2019 Western Conference finalists enter Saturday’s contest hot off the heels of a scoreless draw against Orange County SC where GK Logan Ketterer recorded five saves to secure a road point and his first clean sheet of the 2020 season. Meanwhile, Timbers 2 ventures to El Paso after suffering a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Phoenix Rising FC. Saturday’s contest will be the Locos first match at Southwest University Park since its dominating 3-0 victory over Sacramento Republic in the 2019 Western Conference Semifinals last November.
El Paso will be eager to build on its winning 8-4-5 (29 points) home record it had set last year by securing its second win over Portland Timbers 2. During the last visit Timbers 2 made to Southwest University Park, the Texas club dominated a 4-1 scoreline behind goals from Sebastián Velásquez, MF Nick Ross and a brace from FW Aarón Gómez to help close out its inaugural season and avoid a play-in round berth in the 2019 USL Championship playoffs.
