El Paso Locomotive (3-0-3, 11 points) goes on the road to take on Real Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium on Friday. Kickoff from Herriman, Utah is set for 8:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Following a two-game week, Locomotive is riding on a two-game high that saw the El Paso side take away four of six points. Last Wednesday, Los Locos claimed a 2-0 win over Indy Eleven before ending level with Switchbacks FC, 1-1. The display by Locomotive in this past week saw Defender Macca King and Midfielder Diego Luna earn appearances on the Starting XI for the USL Championship Team of the Week.
The Boys in Blue are now the only team undefeated in the 2021 USL Championship with a record of 3-0-3, extending a regular-season streak that dates back to August 2020. Now 17 regular-season games unbeaten, Locomotive is chasing the league record of 23-games set by FC Cincinnati in 2018. Real Monarchs are the next team to step up and try to halt the Locomotive run, however, it may have an uphill battle in doing so. Real Monarchs have only earned one win after seven games, sitting at the bottom of the Mountain Division table. The last time El Paso visited the Beehive state, Locomotive ended its 2020 regular season with a statement 4-0 win over the 2019 USL Championship title winners.
