El Paso dropped a 2-1 decision on the road to Oakland Roots SC earlier this season. Rubio Rubín opened the scoring just three minutes into the match, but Locomotive were reduced to 10 men after Palermo Ortiz was shown a straight red card in the 18th minute. Oakland found the equalizer in first-half stoppage time before netting the game-winner in the 83rd minute.

El Paso Locomotive FC holds a 2-6-2 all-time record against Oakland Roots SC and is 1-3-1 over the last five meetings. Locomotive’s most recent victory in the series came on October 1, 2025, at Southwest University Park. Amando Moreno opened the scoring in the first minute before Eric Calvillo doubled El Paso’s advantage just four minutes later. Moreno completed his brace in the 72nd minute to make it 3-0, while Oakland found a stoppage-time consolation goal in a 3-1 Locomotive victory.

Locomotive’s 1-0 victory over Monterey Bay FC on Wednesday, coupled with its 2-0 win over Sporting JAX on July 25, marked the club’s first back-to-back home victories of the season. It also marked El Paso’s first consecutive home wins since May 2025, when Locomotive defeated rivals New Mexico United 3-0 on May 3 before following it up with a 3-1 victory over Indy Eleven on May 16.
ATTACKING PRESSURE
El Paso has recorded double-digit shots in each of its last four matches, highlighted by a season-high 27 attempts in the 2-0 loss to Orange County SC. Locomotive followed that performance with five shots on target in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Monterey Bay FC, marking the third consecutive match with at least five efforts on frame.
