ULYSUS TORRES
Ulysus was born and raised locally in El Paso, TX and attended Franklin High School. A dedicated professional leader, Ulysus has carved out a distinctive career path combining collegiate athletics, youth development, and educational leadership. He most recently served as the College Placement Director at FC Westlake, an ECNL affiliate club in Austin, Texas, and played a pivotal role in shaping the futures of young athletes. Ulysus developed and implemented the FC Westlake College Pathway Process Program, working closely with Executives, Program directors, as well as the student-athlete membership to create comprehensive recruitment strategies for student-athletes.
His influence extended to over 500 players and their families, providing crucial guidance through the complex landscape of college recruitment. While in Austin, Ulysus was also tasked on the technical side with leading the girls’ elite program (ENCL-RL), competing in the Texas conference, a top-tier level of competition within the girls ECNL platform. Prior to his current roles, Ulysus built a solid and well-rounded foundation in collegiate athletics, serving as both head and assistant soccer coach at several institutions, including Indian Hills Community College, University of Northwestern Ohio, Coastal Bend Community College, and University of the Cumberland’s.
During this period (2018-2023), he demonstrated exceptional abilities in athlete development, recruitment, and program management, while maintaining strong academic oversight of student-athletes.Ulysus has been able to earn educational credentials that include a Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of the Cumberlands (2019) and a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management from George Fox University (2016). One of their most notable achievements includes receiving the Presidential Award at Coastal Bend College, recognition from the President and Board of Trustees for exceeding expectations in supporting student-athletes both academically and athletically.
Ulysus takes particular pride in his successful recruitment of hundreds of student-athletes, facilitating life-changing opportunities for young athletes to pursue their educational and athletic aspirations at institutions across the country.

DESIREE CASTILLO

Abigail Garcia
Abigail (Avi) Garcia, a proud native of El Paso, Texas, is both a dedicated U.S. Army officer and a passionate soccer coach. He began his military career in 2004 and was commissioned as a Medical Service Corps Officer in 2015 after graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He later earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from UTEP as well.
Throughout his Army career, Avi has served in multiple leadership roles, including Platoon Leader, Medical Operations Officer, Company Commander of Charlie Company, 501st Support Battalion, 1st Armored Division, and most recently as a Senior Medical Observer-Coach-Trainer with the 5th Armored Brigade, First Army Division West. His service includes deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and missions in Kuwait and the Republic of Korea. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
Outside of the Army, Avi’s lifelong love for soccer has allowed him to bring people together on and off the field.
He has played for numerous club teams across El Paso, Fort Bliss, Texas, and Korea, and has coached multiple teams, earning Commander’s Cup titles at four different military installations. Avi has been coaching for over six years, three of those with youth soccer, beginning with the Lil Locos, Technical Academy and most recently the 2013 Locomotive Blue team. Today, he proudly coaches the 2016B Locomotive Garcia team, where he shares his passion for the game, leadership, and teamwork with the next generation of athletes.

ALEX POZO
Alex Pozo grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics at the Universidad Catolica de Guayaquil in 2007. After moving to the US in 2011, he decided to follow his passion as a soccer coach.
He has spent the past 12 years coaching competitive soccer at both the youth and collegiate levels. His experiences working for recognized clubs such as Pateadores SC in California, Barca Escola and UE Cornella in Spain, Barca Residency Academy in Arizona and a role as the Director of Player Development at Arizona Soccer Association, has provided him with an extensive knowledge base to develop players and even more importantly help guide them through various opportunities at the collegiate level where they can further their careers whilst playing the beautiful game.
Profe Pozo communicates with college coaches of all divisions across the nation to streamline the recruiting process for Locomotive Academy players and help to create pathways for our players to compete and obtain a higher education. Also, he is part of the Academy coaching staff.
Alex holds the US Soccer Youth A license and an MBA in Sports Management from Universidad Europea, Madrid. In addition, he is a US Soccer Educator which has helped him comprehend and teach different soccer methodologies.

SEAN TAYLOR
A Kenosha, Wisconsin native, Sean Taylor brings over a decade of competitive youth coaching experience to his role with El Paso Locomotive. A former collegiate player at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul and Missouri Baptist University, he combines his playing background with a strong academic foundation, holding a master’s degree in Sport Management and a USSF B License, with plans to begin his A License in the upcoming cycle.
Throughout his coaching career, he has developed players at all levels of the youth game, including in elite platforms such as NAL and MLS Next. His leadership experience includes serving as Director of Programming, Age Group Director, and Platform Director within youth clubs, consistently building player pathways and advancing talent to the next level. His coaching impact extends to the collegiate level, where he served two years as an assistant coach at St. Louis Community College, contributing to back-to-back national tournament appearances and two undefeated regular seasons.
With a proven track record of player development—highlighted by players progressing to St. Louis City SC—he is now proud to be part of the professional environment at El Paso Locomotive, where he continues to mentor and prepare players and coaches for the next step in their careers.

JAMES ELLIS
James, born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia and started his playing career locally for Beach FC and Virginia Rush Academy. James then went on to play at the collegiate level for both Virginia Commonwealth University and Old Dominion University while studying Health Science and Psychology.
He began his coaching career at Beach Fc in 2015 assisting with youth camps and clinics where he then moved on to become the academy consultant for Virginia Beach City Fc where he oversaw the recreational, school, and clinic-based programs and also coached the u16 and u10 Academy teams.
In 2022 James decided to begin his career at The Great Bridge YMCA as the Sports Director where he worked and helped develop both youth and adult sports programs for varying age groups and sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc. His history and passion for soccer haver allowed him to help develop youth soccer players learn to love the sport of soccer and also allow players to develop their skills and tactics that they will use as they move up in the world of soccer.

KRISTINA PANTOJA
Kristina Pantoja, originally from Ciudad Juárez, is studying Media Advertising at UTEP. Passionate about sports, photography, and video production, she has experience in content creation, social media, and marketing campaigns.
A bilingual communicator (English & Spanish), Kristina is creative, adaptable, and eager to grow in media and advertising.
