El Paso Locomotive FC grabbed a 2-0 win over Sporting JAX at Southwest University Park on July 5. Amando Moreno opened the scoring in the 15th minute, putting home a rebound off the crossbar. Abraham Romero came up big for Locomotive, stopping a penalty kick to deny Sporting JAX, and keep El Paso in the lead.
LAST TIME OUT VS ORANGE COUNTY SC
El Paso and Orange County faced off early this season in the opening round of the Prinx Tires USL Cup. Orange County found the back of the net first but were reduced to 10 men just seven minutes after a second yellow card. Tony Alfaro levelled the match for Locomotive in the 64th minute, and Robert Coronado scored in the 78th to give El Paso the win.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS ORANGE COUNTY SC
Locomotive FC holds a 5-4-5 all-time record against Orange County SC. All five draws in the history of this matchup have come on the road for El Paso. The biggest win for Locomotive came in the first-ever meeting between the teams, a 2-0 scoreline at Southwest University Park. Edson Partida scored both of El Paso’s goals in the contest.
WINNING AT HOME
El Paso’s 2-0 win over Sporting JAX on Saturday, July 25 marked the first regular season win at home for Locomotive since its 3-2 win over Las Vegas Lights FC on April 4. Forward Amando Moreno was a key factor in both wins, scoring a brace against Las Vegas and netting the opening goal against Sporting JAX.
SHUTOUT PERFORMANCE
Abraham Romero earned his second clean sheet of the season in El Paso’s last match against Sporting JAX. The goalkeeper came up with the biggest save of the night when he guessed correctly on a Jacksonville penalty kick, denying Sporting JAX an equalizer and helping secure the shutout.
LOCO OFFENSE
Rubio Rubín continues to lead El Paso in both goals (9) and assists (4), while several teammates have also made significant offensive contributions. Alex Méndez has totaled five goals and three assists this season, and Amando Moreno is second on the team, with six goals.
