EL PASO, Texas (February 21, 2024) – El Paso Locomotive FC announced today that goalkeeper Ramon Pasquel will join on loan from Liga MX sister club FC Juárez ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
“We’re happy to bring Ramon on loan from FC Juárez,” Head Coach and Technical Director Brian Clarhaut said. “He’s a goalkeeper with vast experience in Mexico, who is a fantastic shot-stopper and is good with the ball at his feet. We look forward to aiding in his development as part of our partnership with the Bravos under MountainStar Sports Group and we believe Ramon will play a significant role in our 2024 campaign.”
Pasquel, 27, signed for Los Bravos ahead of the 2022 Apertura tournament and registered 17 appearances and 10 clean sheets between the Juarez U20 and U23 teams before going on to make his first-team debut in 2023, coming in as a first-half sub in a 4-2 win against Deportivo Toluca F.C.
The Mexico City native would later become the starting goalkeeper for Los Bravos in the 2023 Leagues Cup, playing all three matches in the club’s run to the Round of 32.
Pasquel spent the 2020-22 seasons with Pumas Tabasco, the official reserve team of Pumas UNAM that competed in the Liga de Expansión MX, the second division of Mexican football. With Tabasco, Pasquel recorded 10 clean sheets in his 49 appearances across all competitions.
“I thank the team for the reception they have given me, and I am very happy for this next challenge in my career with a great team,” Pasquel said in Spanish. “I come to grow as a goalkeeper and help the team win a championship.”
Future roster transactions will be announced as Locomotive prepares for its sixth season in the USL Championship.
