EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC Youth Soccer and the GECU Foundation have opened doors to playing opportunities and will tackle economic challenges through its “GECU Youth Soccer Scholarship” program, continuing to increase access to quality soccer development for local underserved youth.
Through the scholarship program, recipients are provided financial support to cover club fees that allow them to continue holistic youth development with El Paso Locomotive FC Youth Soccer, which is committed to providing local players with an environment that encourages and inspires them to grow and reach their full potential on and off the soccer field.
“First and foremost, we are very grateful to GECU, and all involved for the support they have tirelessly given to our program,” Locomotive Academy Director Ivan Militar said. “The special relationship between our organizations is evident and shines through the scholarship initiative. We are motivated to offer support for families that might need it, to provide opportunities to play the game we love and to show our respect and gratitude towards the community we serve. GECU is a fantastic partner in this process, and we are truly grateful for the help they have given us.”
As a proud partner of El Paso Locomotive FC Youth Soccer, GECU is dedicated to helping community members thrive and live successful lives, driven by its “people helping people” philosophy.
“As the official credit union of El Paso Locomotive FC, GECU is proud of our expanded support of the Locomotive Youth Soccer Club as a presenting partner,” said Crystal Long, GECU President and CEO. “We share common values that are important for our youth to thrive like promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, building confidence, and nurturing a passion that helps them stay focused. We’re thrilled that our support provides even more benefits by providing financial education, community engagement and scholarships to young, promising soccer athletes.”
