With three shutouts in their last four matches, El Paso’s defensive performances as of late have been key to the recent accumulation of points. The defense will need to maintain discipline and organization to limit Sacramento’s opportunities, especially against a dangerous Russell Cicerone who has not scored in over a month and will be itching to end his scoring drought.
SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC (1ST WESTERN CONFERENCE, 14-5-9, 51 PTS)
Off on a bye last week, Sacramento returns to action rested and motivated ahead of an opportunity to clinch the season sweep and a playoff spot at home.
In their last match, Republic snapped a two-game losing streak on the road at rivals Oakland Roots SC, converting an early penalty and grinding out a 1-0 win.
