EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC midfielder Denys Kostyshyn has been nominated for the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week – Week 8. Fans can vote for Kostyshyn on USL Championship’s website here, as well as on Twitter, Instagram Stories and the USL App.
The poll will close at 10 a.m. MT on Thursday, May 4.
The sequence leading up to the goal was a stellar demonstration of team effort, with seven different players stringing together passes to drive the ball from one end of the field to the other.
The ball eventually landed at the feet of forward Luis “Lucho” Solignac, who noticed that Kostyshyn was charging towards the box. Lucho would set up a short pass in the Ukrainian’s path as he touched the ball forward and shot a left-footer into the net to help Locomotive reclaim the lead and win the match, picking up a crucial three points to extend the team’s unbeaten run to five games.
Kostyshyn’s game winning goal was his second of the season and he becomes the fourth Loco to pick up a nomination for the award in 2023.
