EL PASO, Texas – Fast. Dominant. Control.
Those are words that El Paso Locomotive FC Head Coach and Technical Director Brian Clarhaut used frequently when asked to describe to fans what Locomotive’s identity would look like under his leadership.
Fans heard from Clarhaut about Locomotive’s preparations for the new season on Wednesday night at the first Coach’s Show of 2023. For those interested in watching yesterday’s show, click here.
Clarhaut, the club’s third head coach since beginning play in 2019, joined Los Locos late last year after a seven-year stint in Sweden, managing clubs across the divisions of professional soccer and eventually making a name for himself as the only American to have ever coached in the country’s top league, the Allsvenskan.
In preparation for its upcoming friendlies against Barcelona Residency Academy and Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer, Clarhaut informed those in attendance that his focus for preseason has been about bringing new ideas together.
From what he has seen in training, Clarhaut stated that he is impressed with what the players on the squad have displayed and that the team is “ahead of the curve” on his expectations since taking over.
Special guest Luis “Lucho” Solignac, top goal scorer for Locomotive last season, let fans knows that Clarhaut’s style of play is one he is excited to see the club adopt and when pieces are put together with the rest of the team, Locomotive will “be ready to execute.”
When asked about the passion he brings to the team and how it’ll be displayed on the field, Clarhaut made one thing clear.
“No one is going to disrespect us on the field and if they do, they’re going to have some problems.”
