Kickoff from H-E-B Park in Edinburg, Texas is set for Wednesday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live ESPN+.
El Paso Locomotive FC goes into Wednesday night’s match as the defending Copa Tejas champions and red hot following a 5-0 dismantling of New York Red Bulls II. The Locos are reaching full strength with the return of players from injury or international duty. Standing undefeated in it’s last seven matches, the Locos have outscored their opponents 12 to 4 with four clean sheets. With momentum and confidence squarely on El Paso Locomotive FC’s side, it will now travel to the southern tip of the Lone Star state to H-E-B Park.
After three matches in Edinburg, Locomotive FC has yet to come away with points. The most recent outing closed out the 2021 USL Championship regular season, ending in a 4-1 loss for the Locos. Now the strong El Paso squad will play its second game in five days against an RGV side that finds itself below the playoff line but not far from it. Rio Grande Valley FC has been average in its last five games, taking a record of 2-2-1. Most recently, RGVFC claimed a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds on June 18. The Toros have had a week and half of rest as it prepares to welcome an in form El Paso side that is seeking to solidify a spot above the playoff line.
