El Paso Locomotive FC has announced today Midfielder Christiano Francois, Midfielder Eric Calvillo, and Defender Shavon John-Brown have answered the call to represent Club and Country. Francois, Calvillo, John-Brown will be playing for Haiti, El Salvador, and Grenada, respectively, as they compete for an international trophy in the CONCACAF Nations League. Francois has already joined Haiti while Calvillo and John-Brown will join El Salvador and Grenada next week, ahead of the competition.
The CONCACAF Nations League is an international competition contested by the Senior Men’s National Teams of the members of CONCACAF. The League is split into two phases – a League Phase consisting of group stage competition split across three tiers and a Knockout Phase where the Top Four group winners from League A compete for the Nations League Trophy. Top teams from Leagues B and C promote into League A and B, respectively, while the bottom teams relegate down into the next tier. The CONCACAF Nations League additionally serves as qualification into the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup to be held in the Summer of next year.
Christiano Francois earns his fifth call to represent Haiti, having most recently been called in March for an international friendly against Guatemala. Francois played in 65 minutes before being subbed out. Francois made his international debut for Haiti in September 2019 and since then has answered the call as a regular for ‘The Grenadiers’. Francois will be available for selection for Haiti as it begins its CONCACAF Nations League competition in League B Group B where it is joined by Bermuda, Guyana, and Montserrat.
Haiti’s first match is set for Saturday, June 4 at 3:00 p.m. MT against Bermuda. The Red and Blue will continue throughout the week, playing Montserrat on Tuesday, June 7 (3:00 p.m. MT) and Guyana on Saturday, June 11 (2:00 p.m. MT) and Tuesday, June 14 (4:00 p.m. MT).
Eric Calvillo rejoins the El Salvador Men’s National Team after their fight for a position in the 2022 Qatar World Cup came up short. Calvillo featured in the final round of the qualifiers, playing against Jamaica, Costa Rica and Mexico. Calvillo has been a regular selection for ‘La Azul y Blanco’, having earned six appearances appearances for the Senior team since committing to El Salvador ahead of 2021. Eric Calvillo will once again be available for selection as El Salvador enters League A Group D in the CONCACAF Nations League where it will compete against Grenada and the United States.
Shavon John-Brown returns to Grenada, having played with the ‘Spice Boys’ in a pair of international friendlies against Gibraltar and Andorra. John-Brown featured in both matches, playing a total of 154 minutes. John-Brown has become a regular call-up for the Grenada Men’s National Team since his first appearance in 2012. Over 32 appearances in all competitions, John-Brown has recorded four goals and competed in various competitions including the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Shavon John-Brown will be available for selection for Grenada in League A Group D, where it will play against El Salvador and the United States.
Calvillo and John-Brown will kick off their CONCACAF Nations League campaign on Saturday, June 4 when Grenada and El Salvador play one another at 8:00 p.m. MT. The two Locos face off again on Tuesday, June 7 at 5:00 p.m. MT. Grenada will round out its week against the United States on Friday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m. MT before El Salvador plays the Stars and Stripes on Tuesday, June 14 at 8:00 p.m. MT.
All matches for Haiti, El Salvador, and Grenada will be broadcast live on Paramount+.
El Paso Locomotive FC plays tonight against Las Vegas Lights FC at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
