El Paso Locomotive FC (1-5-1, 4 pts., West-12) travels to the Eastern Conference for the third time in franchise history, taking on Loudoun United FC (2-4-1, 7 pts., East-10) at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. Kickoff is set for Saturday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
El Paso Locomotive is beginning to tighten up its highly aggressive style of play. In the last three games Locomotive has only conceded twice, showcasing the ironclad defensive will from years past. Meanwhile, the goal-scoring threat has slowed slightly for the El Paso side since its 5-0 onslaught against Monterey Bay F.C. After being shut out against San Antonio, Locomotive found a single goal from Forward Lucho Solignac in the 1-1 draw against Oakland Roots. As Locomotive heads to its first franchise match against Loudoun United, the Sun City club will be looking to pin together its successful offensive from the first weeks of the season with its defensive showing in the most recent outings.
Loudoun United presents an opportunity to fine-tune the Locomotive elements of play, as the Eastern team has struggled in recent weeks as it freefalls from its early positioning near the top of the East. Loudoun United started strong with upset wins over Indy Eleven and New York Red Bulls II, but after a scoreless draw against Miami FC, the Virginia side skid into a four-game losing streak. The young Loudoun side will be fighting to recapture the early season magic before El Paso Locomotive can extend their losing streak to five games.
