El Paso Locomotive FC makes its triumphant return to the Western Conference Final for the second time in as many years, traveling to Casino Arizona Field to take on Phoenix Rising FC. The fight to represent the Western Conference in the USL Championship Final is set for kick off at 8:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on locally on El Paso – Las Cruces CW and nationally on ESPN+.
After a tremendous campaign through the Western Conference in an unprecedented year, Locomotive FC has been able to replicate the success it had in its inaugural year. Locomotive FC went on a club-record 13-game unbeaten streak to claim top of Group C while downing FC Tulsa and New Mexico United in the Western Conference Quarterfinals and Semifinals. The playoff run has not been without its trials, as Locomotive played through 120 minutes and penalties to advance to a second consecutive Conference Final appearance.
Locomotive now goes back to Arizona to take on Phoenix Rising FC for the first time since August 1, where the El Paso side fell 3-1. That loss against Phoenix Rising was the last time Locomotive lost a game, meaning Locomotive will be looking at a shot of redemption to take down Phoenix and represent the West in the Championship Final. Phoenix will prove to be a challenging opponent, as it dominates the series record of 3-0-0 over Locomotive FC. However, despite the series lead, the El Paso club is red-hot in form with momentum squarely on its side going into Saturday’s Western Conference Final bout.
