El Paso Locomotive FC’s dream debut in USL eCup: Rocket League Edition was left wanting as Locomotive FC fell 2-0 in a three-game series against San Antonio FC.
The tone of the series was set early on as San Antonio’s representative Josh Richards put away three goals within the early minute, while GK Ketterer demonstrated his goalkeeping skills to limit the early scoring with two saves. While SAFC was able to sneak in two more, Ketterer didn’t go down without a fight, finding his first goal to pull one back with three and half minutes left on the clock before finding a second just two minutes later. While Logan found a third goal, it wasn’t enough to close the gap, ending the first match in SAFC’s favor 9-3.
Game 2 kicked off on fast start with San Antonio FC recording an early goal within 15 seconds, rebounding a ball from corner to Ketterer’s goal before quickly doubling the scoring with a trick play that chipped the ball over Ketterer for another goal. Before Locomotive FC could respond to pull one back, SAFC fooled with a trick look to chip again only to keep the ball low and under the diving Locomotive FC keeper.
The goals kept coming for the SAFC side through Game 2, where within the second minute, the opposing side slipped two past Ketterer. The goalkeeper began to make a comeback, making saves and clearances in an attempt to protect the goal, however San Antonio’s kept the goals going to close out the series on a 10-0 scoreline.
The Rocket League action continues as El Paso Locomotive FC takes on another Texas rival, Rio Grande Valley FC next Tuesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. MT live on ESPN3.
