EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC midfielder Denys Kostyshyn has won the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week – Week 8. This is the second consecutive week that a Locomotive player has been chosen as the recipient of the award.
The sequence leading up to the goal was a stellar demonstration of team effort, with seven different players stringing together passes to drive the ball from one end of the field to the other.
The ball eventually landed at the feet of forward Luis “Lucho” Solignac, who noticed that Kostyshyn was charging towards the box. Lucho would set up a short pass in the Ukrainian’s path as he touched the ball forward and shot a left-footer into the net to help Locomotive reclaim the lead and win the match, picking up a crucial three points to extend the team’s unbeaten run to five games.
Kostyshyn and Los Locos return to action tomorrow Friday, May 5 in a rematch against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, where Locomotive will look to continue its five-game unbeaten run and retain an undefeated record at Weidner Field. Catch the match on ESPN+, kickoff at 8 p.m. MT.
