El Paso Locomotive FC, alongside the USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 23 and that El Paso Locomotive FC Forward Luis ‘Lucho’ Solignac was voted the Championship Player of the Week. This is Solignac’s second Championship Player of the Week appointment in the 2022 season.

Solignac was looking for his first goal since July 3 coming into the game, and after El Paso fell into a three-goal deficit on the road against the Switchbacks the Argentine led the fightback for El Paso. The veteran first set up Midfielder Dylan Mares eight minutes into the second half before turning home the second for Locomotive FC in the 57th minute. After Mares added his second of the game eight minutes later, Solignac put Locomotive ahead in the 67th minute.
The Argentine recorded two goals and one assist as Locomotive FC rallied from a three-goal halftime deficit in a wild 4-4 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday night. Solignac padded the stat sheet completing 22 of 26 passes and recording three chances created overall. Solignac recorded his eighth and ninth goals of the season and currently leads the team in goals this season with nine. Additionally, he recorded his fifth assist of the year.
Solignac earned 35 percent of the ballot to claim the award. The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship.
Week 23 also saw Locomotive Midfielder Ricardo Zacarias joining Solignac in the starting eleven on Team of the Week. To read more about the dual appointments for Team of the Week click here.
