EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive hosted a soccer clinic for unaccompanied children at the Fort Bliss Influx Care Facility (ICF), providing those in care at the facility with a fun experience to learn about and play soccer.
Children between the ages of 8 and 16 participated in the two-hour Locomotive clinic, learning the fundamentals of playing soccer and participating in different soccer-specific exercises and activities. The clinic was held at the facility and was run by members of Locomotive’s Youth Soccer staff with assistance from new first-team signing, goalkeeper Javier Garcia.
“I was grateful for the time I spent with the children at the shelter and to see how happy they were playing soccer,” Garcia said. “Attending events like these allows us to help in a very meaningful way and I am really thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.”
In addition to this day of play, Locomotive plans to expand its grassroots and community efforts across El Paso throughout the year. The club will look to future community initiatives to continue providing youth in the city with introductions to the game and accessible pathways to participate in soccer programming.
